In the 1920s and 30s, sheep were used in London parks to keep the grass down. Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, Clapham Common and Hampstead Heath all had sheep grazing on them. Hyde Park's own shepherd taking his sheep along the Serpentine pathway to new grazing ground elsewhere in the park. His dog has taken to the water to stop the sheep from swimming off, 16th March 1938.
Negli anni '20 e '30 del '900 in Londra le pecore venivano utilizzate per mantenere i prati con erba bassa.
In molti dei parchi londinesi veniva utilizzata questa tecnica, ripresa ai nostri giorni in diverse città, anche italiane.
